Must have at home essential workout equipment most gyms don’t want you to know about

Find out the home workout essentials

Recently I have been asked a lot what’s the best home gym equipment to buy?

There is so much great stuff out there, but I have made a list of the home workout essentials that are great for keeping your training at a high standard when you can’t get to the gym. So here it goes in no particular order.

Resistance Bands

So, as a sports performance & injury recovery specialist bands are in my kit bag all the time, they are great & a must have. Here’s the ones you will find in my bag:

Red & purple resistance band

Glute band

Loop Band

Skipping Rope

Not just any skipping rope, make sure you get yourself a cable rope, they are just so much nicer to skip with. The best thing about this is its super cheap & they last forever, I’ve had mine for over 5 years, all be it warn down a little but still going strong.

Kettlebell

Kettlebell’s are super versatile & personally I think they are a must have at home. If I had to pick between a kettlebell or dumbbell, the kettlebell wins every time. One light & one heavy will do the trick. I personally recommend the Wolversons competition kettlebells, but they have a price tag.

Slam ball

A slam ball can double up as a medballl & wall ball, multipurpose it. Why a slamball  specifically though? Because if you try slamming a medball or wall ball they start to lose shape & are not as robust as a slamball.

Dumbbell

Dumbbells are a great piece of home equipment, even if I would personally pick kettlebells over them. It doesn’t mean they’re not great or have their uses. They are 100% a home essential. Look for medium weight set.

Foam Roller

Foam roller is a must have, after all that exercise your going to want to make sure the muscles are supple & released. My personal favourite is the trigger point roller, as it doesn’t loss shape. Again I have had this for a number of years and it’s still going strong.

Bonus Tip

Use your body & do the basics well. Press up, squat, glute bridge, leg raises & crunches.  With the correct programming you can have some absolutely mega sessions with just body weight work.

So that’s it guys, the essentials, bands, skipping rope, kettlebell, dumbbell, roller and bodyweight! Any questions reach out & ask.
